Computex 2006 is underway and a number of interesting new devices have surfaced.
Gigabyte, a Taiwanese company unviled the g-smart i120 and the i300. The g-smart i120 is a Windows Mobile 5.0 device with tri-band GSM and GPRS capabilities. It comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 256MB ROM and 64MB RAM, a MiniSD slot, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2, a 2.1MP camera as well as a TV and FM radio tuner.
The Gigabyte i300 is a very boxy looking tri-band GSM/GPRS device also powered by Windows Mobile 5.0. It also comes with 256MB ROM and 64MB RAM, 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, a miniSD slot, FM tuner and GPS (using the SiRFstar III chipset).
Smartphones unveiled include the Debussy (Windows Mobile 5.0, a 176×220 pixel 2-inch screen, an SD slot and a 1.3MP camera), the Wigo 800 (Windows Mobile 5.0, 2.2-inch QVGA screen, GSM and 802.11 b/g WiFi, 64MB ROM and 64MB RAM) and the slider-style OKWAP K728 which adds touch screen support to Windows Mobile Smartphone as well as 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM, a Samsung 400MHz CPU, miniSD slot, 2MP camera, tri-band capabilities and a 176×220 screen.
It remains to be seen how many of these we will see outside of Asia.
