A reader over at TUAW managed to find a screenshot embedded in iTunes 6.0.3 that suggests that Apple could be getting ready to remove the 100 song limit on iTunes phones. This would likely take place through a software upgrade. More details are available on Evan DiBiase’s blog who found out about this.
If this is in fact true, it would be a smart move on Apple’s part. I never understood why they would arbitrarily decide how many songs we should be allowed to store on any mobile device.
Update: Engadget received word from Eddie Cue, product manager for iTunes, that the upgrade screen is being used to bring some non-US customers up to the 100 song limit from their current cap of 25. So, no increased capacity for everyone else (at least for now).
