Apple Insider’s sources have revealed that a 17-inch widescreen MacBook Pro could be announced as soon as April at the same time as Apple’s Intel-based iBooks. This launch date could be pushed out to June (when the World Wide Developers Conference takes place) due to the unavailability of 8x 9.5mm thick Superdrives which the new MacBook Pro uses (rather than the 12mm version in the older PowerBook G4 models). The 8x 9.5mm SuperDrive is not expected to ship until May. I’m guessing June is a more likely scenario then unless Apple decides to use 4x SuperDrives.
The 17-inch MacBook Pro is also expected to come with at least a 2.16GHz Intel Core Duo processor.
On the other end of the spectrum, Apple Insider’s sources reveal that a 12-inch version of the MacBook Pro has not been scheduled on Apple’s product roadmap yet.
