Infonetics Research reports that sales of wireless networking equipment continued to climb with worldwide revenues passing $767 million in Q4 2004 and Q1 2005. Unit shipments of over 12 million make it the highest quarterly volume. The growth of broadband Internet access is driving much of this increase as people upgrade to wireless broadband routers.
802.11n, the next WiFI standard (expected in late 2006) allowing the transfer of data at more than 100mbps, is expected to ensure that the wireless networking market remains healthy.
