Forbes is reporting that Alain Levy from the EMI Group announced today that Apple will roll out tiered pricing on the iTunes Music Store within the next year. Although Apple has not commented, either Levy has confirmed that the labels have finally gotten what they wanted from Apple, namely higher prices on new releases and more popular music, or this is yet another escalation in the battle to achieve that goal.
If EMI has been successful in obtaining this concession from Apple, expect to see similar announcements from Warner and Sony BMG in the near future!
Meanwhile, we lucky consumers can get ready to shell out more for our music.
