Softeq has announced the Duratek 3100 PDA. Inside, the electronics are from HP’s iPAQ line. But that’s where the similarities stop. The Duratek is built to be shockproof, dustproof and waterproof but still fairly compact (unlike many other rugged handhelds). It measures 4.75-inches by 3.0-inches by 0.75-inches with a weight of just under 150 grams (including a 1440 mAh battery and stylus).
The Duratek 3100 is designed for purposes such as guest services, restaurant POS, hospitality, field operations and maintenance. It runs on Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition (Professional Edition)
It comes with a 300MHz Samsung S3C 2440 processor (with a 400MHz option), includes built-in 802.11b Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a sealed SD slot capable of SDIO,64 MB of RAM (128MB option also available)and a QVGA 3.5″ screen.
Both Softeq and HP will sell the Durateq 3100 starting in September. The list price will be $899 USD.
