Opera Software has released Opera 8.5 and with this release came the announcement that it has removed the ad banner and license fees from its browser software. “Today we invite the entire Internet community to use Opera and experience Web browsing as it should be,” said Jon S. von Tetzchner, CEO, Opera Software. “Removing the ad banner and licensing fee will encourage many new users to discover the speed, security and unmatched usability of the Opera browser.”
Opera is cross-platform and modular, and available on many operating systems including Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Symbian OS, Windows Mobile, and more.
Opera is a great browser and the move to eliminate advertising and licensing should help accelerate its adoption.
