Apple is counting down sales to half a billion songs sold on the iTunes® Music Store. A counter on the Apple home page is marking the event – It’s amazing to see how many songs get sold every minute!
To mark the occasion, every 100,000th song sold on the way to the target will earn its purchaser an iPod mini and a 50-song gift card. For the lucky purchaser of the 500 millionth song, the prize will consist of 10 iPods, a gold 10,000-song gift card for the music store as well as 10 additional 50-song gift cards and a trip for four to see Coldplay.
About 20,000 songs were sold while I wrote this!
