Fujitsu has developed a film substrate-based bendable color electronic paper with an image memory function. What does that really mean? This electronic paper can not only display colour images but is bendable. It can also continue to display the same image without any additional power requirements. It gets cooler: When the paper is bent or rolled up, the images do not distort or lose any quality!
Fujitsu expects to start selling electronic paper in 2006 or early 2007. Expected uses include advertising (what else is new?), public information displays (eg, menus), manuals and short-term information displays and mobile phones and other mobile devices.
This could lead to some very interesting mobile form factors in the future.
