The folks over at The Register just reviewed the Dell Axim X50v and to say that they loved it would be an understatement. With an overall ratting of 98% and the comment that This is certainly the best PDA I’ve ever used., there was not much that they did not love.
There are no benchmarks but they did put the X50v through its paces with some DivX movies. The playback and quality of the VGA screen impressed them very much. This makes the X50v a serious alternative to carrying round one of the new breed of bigger and heavier hard disk-based video players.
The drawbacks? A somewhat improperly located ‘Record’ function button and a bit of disapointment about the two-tone black fascia with silver piping round the edges of the unit.
