Yesterday, along with the release of new iPods, Apple announced a new iMac G5. Aside from being slightly thinner and lighter, the new models come with either a 1.9GHz PowerPC G5 processor, 160GB hard drive and 17-inch screen or a 2.1 GHz PowerPC G5 processor, 250GB hard drive and 20-inch screen. Both model come standard with a SuperDrive with dual-layer support, 512MB DDR2 SDRAM, a 128MB RAM ATI video card, 5 USB ports (but only 3 are 2.0), two FireWire 400 ports and both built-in 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet and built-in AirPort Extreme.
Both model also come with a built-in iSight video camera and the new full-screen Front Row interface which lets you browse your iMac’s contents as easily as you browse music on your iPod. Also included is the new Apple Remote.
The 17-inch 1.9 GHz iMac G5, will sell for $1,299 USD ($1,599 CAD) and the 20-inch 2.1GHz model will sell for $1,699 USD ($1,999 CAD)
If that’s not enough, AppleInsider reports that Apple will update its PowerBook and Power Mac lineup very shortly.
