Back on May 23, we reported that rumours were swirling around that Apple might switch from IBM’s PowerPC processors to Intel’s. According to cnet, the rumours could become reality as early as Monday at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco.
Apple’s Mac OS X operating system is based on the open-source FreeBSD operating system which already runs on x86 chips. From a technical perspective, the switch might not be so complicated.
