Samsung’s latest NAND flash memory memory module can store up to 16GB of data. And Samsung is talking about how this could result in alternatives not only to mini hard drives but possibly even laptop hard drives. Samsung also said that, with multiple 16-gigabit flash memory chips, mobile and portable application designers could make memory cards with densities of up to 32 gigabytes (about 8000 songs or 20 movies).
The new 16GB NAND flash should hit mass production in latter 2006.
